• Will the Air Dome Collapse If It Is Punctured?

  Small damage to the air dome won't affect the safety of the building. Quick repairs can fix the problem.

  If a large hole (bigger than 1m²) appears, the air pressure inside the building will change, setting off an alarm. Management personnel will evacuate the building quickly and start repairs, usually taking about 30 minutes to an hour. The building will still be safe.

  According to American standards, when all doors are open, the average height of the air dome should drop to 2.5 meters for at least 30 minutes, giving people enough time to escape.

  For example, in our Foxconn plant project, when all the inflatable equipment stopped, and all doors stayed closed, the dome lowered to a height of 5 meters in about 4 hours.

• How Does Broadwell Quote for Air Domes?

  To provide a quotation for air domes, Broadwell requires the client to supply the following information:

  1. Site area

  2. Purpose of the air dome (permanent or seasonal)

  3. Grade of membrane materials

  4. Internal configuration details, including:

     Heating

     Air conditioning

     Lighting

     Insulation

     Number of emergency doors

     Number of revolving doors

     etc.

• Can This Type of Air Dome Building Be Customized into Various Shapes According to Customer Requirements?

  While this type of building can be customized to some extent, it cannot take on just any shape due to the reliance on the difference between internal and external air pressure. The most common shapes are rectangular, oval, or circular. Since the air dome is supported by air and does not have columns or beams inside, its top is not angular; instead, it has an arched shape.

• Can the Air Dome Building Be Used as a Large-Scale Competition Venue?

  While the air dome is designed for high airtightness, it has limited entrances and exits, making it less suitable for large crowds and intensive activities over extended periods. However, it can be effectively used as a training facility.

  For large sports venues, the air dome should be integrated with traditional architecture. For example, revolving and emergency doors should be incorporated into the traditional design. The air dome can serve as a rooftop, significantly reducing stadium construction costs.

  In our project at the Hunan Li County stadium, using an air dome roof not only halved the construction costs but also reduced future energy consumption by 50%.
